As part of our Meet The Fleet blog series, we would like to introduce you to the Lodairo.
Built in 2015 and sailing under the flag of Spain, the ship has a gross tonnage of 4290 and catches cod, haddock, redfish, Greenland halibut, and saithe. It takes around four trips a year to the Barents Sea, and usually lands in either Spain, Germany or Norway. It is 86.06 metres and 16.29 metres wide, with a 2.200m3 onboard cold store.
Co-owned by Seagold LTD (our parent company) and Pesquera Ancora, the Lodairo is named after its predecessor Nuevo Virgen de Lodairo, also owned by Pesquera Ancora, and it is a toponymic name from Galicia, Northwest Spain.
Think the Lodairo bears a striking resemblance to another vessel of ours? This impressive fishing trawler is the old Kirkella, which is why they look similar and are the same colour. When comparing the two vessels, Lodairo is 3 years older, therefore Kirkella is a step forward in terms of the design of modern fishing vessels.
The 34 crew members have the luxury of relaxing in the cinema room, gym and sauna after their busy shifts at work, and have full access to the internet meaning they can keep in contact with their loved ones while they are away.
Did you know you can track the location of the vessel by visiting Marine Traffic?
Keep your eyes peeled for the next blog in our Meet-The-Fleet series!
