National Fish And Chip Day started in 2015, and each year it has become more successful. The idea was to create an awareness day in the industry that would help represent fish and chips as the nation’s favourite dish. The day is significant for fish and chip shops, restaurants, and foodservice establishments across the UK, as it helps boost sales and recognises the popularity of the traditional meal.
The day is often celebrated by companies decorating their shops and venues, launching new campaigns on social media, and introducing promotional offers. It is sponsored by the National Edible Oil Distributors’ Association, and on its company site, you can download free materials to promote your business.
With fish prices at record levels, this day will be more important than ever this year. Taking part in National Fish and Chip Day doesn’t have to be expensive or time-consuming; any amount of support can be valuable, whether you send out a simple post on Twitter or a story on Instagram.
And if you need more reasons to celebrate the delicious dish, fish and chips are not only tasty and traditional, but white fish
is also full of protein and vitamins such as B6, which can help fight inflammation. It also contains B3, which can support your immune system, and B12, an essential vitamin needed for a healthy functioning nervous system.
Not only is white fish nutritious, but many companies in the fish industry are increasing their sustainability, and eating MSC-certified products can ensure there will be populations of freshwater and ocean wildlife in the future.
At Collins, we have decided to raise awareness of the big day by organising a giveaway for all of our fantastic customers; we are taking the opportunity to enforce the importance of fish and chips!
